When you enjoy taking part in sports, it is important that you wear the correct
sports shoes. A cheap pair of trainers might do you if you only play
occasionally, but an unsuitable pair can rub your feet and give you blisters
and other painful problems. You might not improve your game when you wear a great
pair, but you will certainly be more comfortable and enjoy your sports more.
The size of the footwear is important. Lots of sports are energetic with a good deal of foot movement and will require a pair that fits well. You might even want to look for a pair that are one half or one full size larger than your normal size. By giving your foot more room to move around, it will stop your toes banging into the end and reduce other rubbing, but a pair that is too large might move too much and lead to blisters.
You will need to consider how your feet pronate when you walk or run. This is the way that your foot turns in as you step, and some shoes are designed for people who under-pronate, over-pronate or those with neutral gait. The correct type of shoe will be a lot more comfortable to wear and move about in, and the wrong type could lead to problems with your muscles as they compensate for the effects on your stride.
A performance, or endurance, sportsperson might be concerned with the weight of their footwear. An extra 100g on your feet might not make much difference over 20-30 minutes, but it will have an effect after 2-3 hours. If you are doing long sessions or your performance is important you may wish to search for the lightest pair you can find.
Whether you like it or not, you body weight will also play a part when you are buying shoes. If you weigh more, you will need to look for more cushioning to protect your joints. Lighter people can get away with less cushioning and lighter shoes, but you want to be careful you have enough cushioning or you run the risk of stress injuries.
Some sports are played on different playing surfaces, and you might need to consider the grip that your shoes provide you. If you run cross-country, you might want extra grip, or track runners might wear spikes for example. A pair that is perfect on concrete might not have good grip on grass or mud.
If you are fashion conscious, you should look for a pair made by your favorite manufacturer. Nearly all the reputable brands make footwear that would suit you, but remember that a comfortable pair of shoes is more important than the appearance of it.
Once you have considered all these factors and found the perfect pair, why not try the shoes on in your local shop and then have a look online and see if you can find the same pair cheaper online. You might be able to save yourself some money, but watch out for delivery charges which will increase the price.
Whatever your sport, finding the perfect shoes will
make you more comfortable and you will enjoy it more. Take some time and look
for the perfect pair for you, and do not just buy the first cheap pair you
find, you might make a painful and expensive mistake.
